Our roots

It was a beautiful Sunday morning in the paradise island of Sri Lanka in 2014. By

the Araliya (Plumeria Rubra) tree, children of ages 3-5 were mischievously playing

(or trying) tennis while an amazing coach Jayantha Chandralal with remarkable

patience kept the children laughing and enjoying. I was watching the court and the

goings on during this morning Red ball Tennis squad at Chris Perera Tennis

Academy where my 4 year old twin sons were starting their Tennis journey. Week

after week it dawned to me that there could be a space for digital capabilities

which could enrich and enhance the interactions amongst the parents, players,

coaches and the academy administrators. With a blank sheet I started pencil

sketching the interactions and work flows from a “parents” points of view. After

detailing these diagrams I approached the head coach and the owner of the

academy, Chris and shared my idea on how to bring in “digital capabilities in

harmony with the physical interactions to elevate the academy experience to all

stakeholders”. After few discussions, the idea to build something unique together,

was sparked.

A sports academy consists of players, coaches, parents of players, admin staff.

Each stakeholder has different objectives and aspirations associated with the

academy. The noble purpose of a sports academy “should” be to “nurture world

class sportsmen and sportswomen while experiencing a rich and fulfilling

environment within the academy”.

What we have produced is the answer to the above aspiration - a suite of apps that

gives all stakeholders a fulfilling and enriching experience to aim high, where

possibilities of excellence are infinite.

In sports, parents’s spending on their children’s love for a sport, the commitment

by children amongst other responsibilities in studies and recreation, the

commitment by coaches to relentlessly aim to nurture world class sports persons

and the effort/ commitment by a sporting academy to harmonise all interactions

and activities to give an enriching experience to all stakeholders - it’s a tall ask, but

not impossible. The world embraces DIGITAL in many ways - some positive, some

detrimental to humans and planet earth. Using Digital to augment and complement human capacity in a moral and noble manner is what we have

thought through.

The aimn∞w apps will enable Transparency, Visibility, Ease of Interactions,

Evolving capabilities to enhance and monitor player performances, Encourage and

facilitate coaches to be productive and effective in their coaching programmes and

Give the parents of younger players the assurance of security, progression and

elevation of their children to greater heights in their passion for the sport. The

apps do not attempt to Train, Monitor the Diet and show the players how to be a

copy of great players like Federer, Nadal or The Williams sisters but enable the

coaches and parents to identify each young player’s unique approach to the sport

and harmonise their energies to develop each player’s unique abilities to evolve

them into the next generation of champs with great hearts.

The infinity symbol in aimn∞w depicts the infinite possibilities the suite of apps

will evolve into, un-learning and re-framing its offerings to be ahead of times to

sustain an enriching experience the stakeholders of the academy will go through.
